In its central section, the Ötztal valley opens up unexpected views. Surrounded by the granite mountainsides of the Ötztal Alps, Längenfeld and its incorporated communities of Huben and Gries welcome their guests. Here there are wide meadows extending to the feet of the giants of the Ötztal and Stubai Alps.
Längenfeld nestles in the shadow of steep mountainsides topped by rugged peaks formed in the mists of prehistory. There are wonderful hiking tours that follow trails taking in wide corries and crystal clear mountain lakes and that lead to select destinations in the high alpine region. Of course, more leisurely hiking tours can also be undertaken along the path of the valley floor in Längenfeld.
The topography around Längenfeld makes this region a perfect base for those who enjoy discovering the countryside by bike. Thanks to the activity of glaciers in the past, the Längenfeld basin is now smooth and flat. There are 40 kilometres of level cycle paths on the valley floor so that the lower levels of the valley can easily be explored by bicycle. Those who want a bit more of a challenge can use one of the many forest paths and undertake a tour to one of the nearby lodges and alpine pastures. Need a little help? Environmentally friendly electric bikes are also available.
Individual training supervision with performance analysis is available in the Längenfeld running and exercise centre and there is a network of 40 kilometres of signposted paths.
Those taking a cross-country skiing holiday in Tyrol will find a trail network extending over 70 kilometres that has sections designed for classic style and skate skiing. It is possible to put in place particularly wide loops because of the width of the valley floor at Längenfeld. Visitors to the Ötztal can use all cross-country skiing trails free of charge.
All other venues for your winter sports activities during a skiing holiday in Ötztal are just a stone's throw away. Sölden's ski area is a mere 13 km away while the ski region of Obergurgl/Hochgurgl is only 26 km distant.
Tyrol's only thermal spa is located in Längenfeld. The extensive indoor and outdoor programme at the Aqua Dome ensures that visitors can enjoy a spa and health experience second to none. With its water at temperatures of 34°C and 36°C and activity pool with underwater fitness equipment, the thermal spa centre is glazed on all sides, allowing users to enjoy the fascination of the Ötztal glaciers even in winter. Special features are the outdoor hot water basins with their magnificent panoramic view of the mountains.
