The picture-perfect village centre with its historical architecture, exemplified by the 'Stern' inn and the Tower Museum, is a cultural highpoint. Numerous cafés, restaurants and boutiques invite visitors to stroll and lounge.

The Piburger See

The basin of this lake was originally a valley that ran parallel to the Ötztal. At the end of the last Ice Age, a massive landslip blocked the valley at its south-eastern end, causing the lake to form. In the middle of summer, the water on the lake surface can reach temperatures of up to 24°C. Thanks to its captivating setting, the lake is a popular destination for trips in the Ötztal.

Hochoetz - hiking and family skiing resort

The Acherkogel lift takes visitors into the alpine meadow region of Hochoetz, 2020 metres above sea level. This is the starting point for a clearly signposted network of hiking paths, leading to mountain lodges, mountain peaks and into the neighbouring side valleys of the Ötztal and the Kühtai. The easier routes can be managed by all hikers.

In winter, the Hochoetz ski area becomes an archetypical winter sports centre. Located at the entrance to the Ötztal valley, it caters specifically for families and the personal needs of the individual guest. With its easy-going 34 km of piste, slopes appropriate for skiers of all levels, cosy rest and refreshment facilities and rustic ski lodges, this area is ideal for a family ski holiday in Tyrol.
